You have great ideas in this piece. Yet it's rather rough as it doesn't quite fit the ambient genre with so strong melody.
+overall feeling
+parts 0:53-01:09 and 01:39-01:52, good ideas but as said, bit rough on the edges :)
-first minute feels bit dragging, maybe a slight variation to the basic melody would keep it fresh
till the first transition?
-Rough on the edges, but easily fixed

3 stars from me, keep working on it! :)

I've had quite a few people tell me that it felt "rough," or that it was "missing something." I appreciate the help, but I feel like I'm not at the appropriate skill level as of yet to do much about what I have so far. Maybe in the future I shall improve on this idea. I am glad you pointed out some specific areas, though. Thank you for the comment.

Reminds me of FF8 soundtrack, good job there.
Maybe because of that I'm feeling that it's missing a flute? It would add greatly to the fullness to have few light flute arpeggios (or such) earlier than at 2:03 when you do it with the choir.

Still, it's not song breaking, you get 4,5 from me. Very enjoyable till the end!

Rhombys responds:

Thank you for you comment. A flute would be nice.

Excellent ambience, but it still leaves me wanting and waiting for that B part of the song (modulations, anything, give me anything). It would dramatize the feeling (could be happy or sad).

That said, you get my 4.5 because you left me waiting for more, you...! :P

jvonm responds:

Yeah, a B section with some different chords and movement would give it some dimension! I can't wait to develop the song further.

Thanks for the rating.

Your style hits a bullseye! Honestly after 2mins I'm longing for a modulation though, but it's nothing songbreaking since there is enough variation to keep it intresting till the end. Excellent job man!

I could totally hear this on some gameprojects, reminds me of early pokemen themes! :D At 0:42 I think you went out of the line with the melody (I know it's a matter of opinion as some artists use that as a powertrick) and IMHO it doesn't sound good. Going out of the scale like that does bring a shock to the listener but in an upbeat loop like this it's a wrong kind of shock.

Otherwise, I like what you did with the loop, especially with the wobbles you said you tried. I get a determined positive atmosphere out of this, maybe a good tutorial loop? /Cheers

Hehe man this was playing on my mind for a while.

After reading your comment I had to go back and check and search for any off-put notes but everything appeared in place.. But it's the lead synth and bass :P. Twards the end, the bass goes down in scale while the synth goes up in scale and I guess they kind of clash to make some strange sounding chord if you will.

I did rearrange the bassline to make it fit and in all honesty it didn't sound as good IMO. It lacked the kind of depth the messed up version did. But I guess that's just how I see it. I knew something was off when I heard it but it didn't bother me that much, infact I rather like it :) but that's just me.

I appreciate this analysis man really made me think and backtrace :) thanks!
